The Worcester County Teacher of the
Year Program
"The Teacher of the Year Program celebrates the teaching profession
and exemplifies the highest standards of our great educators. The
county's Teacher of the Year candidates represents all teachers who
devote extra time, talents, and abilities to the education of our youth,
and who enjoy the respect of colleagues, parents, students and the
community."
Binns is currently teaching 8th grade at
Pocomoke Middle School, in
Pocomoke City, Maryland, where
their motto is: "A school of readers and achievers!"
At the middle school she teaches United
State's History and also the Service-Learning coordinator for that level
and a member of the Positive Behavioral Interventions Support (PBIS)
team.
Her teaching experience also includes teaching 4th grade
abroad on the islands of Bermuda. She
was the Math Coordinator for the school and sponsored the debate team
for two years, and the Parents' Resource Institute for Drug Education
(PRIDE) advisor for four years.
Twynette adds that she “”believes that teachers and educators are
entrusted with a tremendous responsibility. We are entrusted with
tomorrow's leaders. And we are training for jobs that don't even exist
yet. As Christian teachers in the public school system, we have a
greater responsibility. We have to witness through actions and deeds.”
Twynette Binns and her husband Kimandi have three beautiful children,
Devin, Zoe and Zhane, and they make their home in Salisbury, Maryland
and attend New Life Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Congratulations Mrs. Binns. Keep up the good work.
